OUTTAKES and ANNOTATIONS:

The Kabogable Mayer Hawthorne

Went with my friends EJ Garcia of Musicphileosophy and DJ Joe Osmena, and Amado Fores who I met earlier that afternoon. Umi-indie

Laglag panty, or in the words of Bing Austria of Flippin Soul Stompers, Laglag Brief

So Paolo and I went up the rooftop for a smoke ‘coz apparently once you enter Terminal 9, you can’t get out anymore. And unmistakably, it was DJ Breakbot talking up some chick right across us. So being kapal-muks, Paolo and I approached him and asked for a photo. He was kind enough to indulge. Ummm, dapat lang, we paid 30 dollars to go see him and his other colleagues. I actually quite enjoyed the beats of Breakbot. Now where to find his music on-line? Papa Hipster Ralph Mendoza, help?

On a cab to Chicken Rice with Pao, Rianna, and EJ in the middle of Chromeo’s set, I had this idea of putting the Mayer Hawthorne flyer against some poster I stole from Terminal 9. This is the result. Sino kaya yung tinapalan niya?

Humi-hipster with my beer.

Paolo my NYC hipster gig buddy. He’s currently residing in Manhattan, taking up his masters in journalism in Columbia. Siya na. it’s him already.

A week later, upon getting back from Vegas to watch the Pacquiao fight, I dragged Paolo with me to the Architecture in Helsinki gig at Irving Plaza. Joe was leaving for Jersey for the weekend with all of our Filipino friends. And since my partners in 9 Works Theatrical were in town, I decided to stay in Manhattan to join them. Joe sold us his tickets and we found ourselves face-to-face with our new favorite band. Yep, Architecture in Helsinki has made a believer out of us. I probably listen to them everyday now. Easy listening eh - the sound ain’t too hipster that you have to readjust your stereophonic greenhorn hipster mentality to appreciate it.

They sure know how to get the crowd going
